i rode this pretty buckskin through a field of wildflowers.
riding a horse is a more than a form a transportation literally – it brings with it another kind of transportation, too. there’s something that happens, something special, when you climb up on the big broad back of a horse and start moving forward.
it’s a soulful experience. i often wonder about that very first person who climbed on the back of a wild horse and tied her fate to the thunder-sounds of hooves on earth, mane whipping except those fistfuls in her hands.
maybe she was my grandmother’s grandmother’s grandmother, to all the way back in time.
